The thicker the cable, the lower the loss. In practice:
- LMR-195 works fine up to about 10 metres; flexible and easy to install
- For lengths of 10–20 m: LMR-240 is a good option
- For >20 m: we recommend H200 coax (super low-loss, 11 mm)
Why cable loss matters
Every metre of coax costs a little signal. With a long, thin cable that loss can be greater than the gain of the antenna itself. Keep the cable as short as is practical and choose a thicker, low-loss cable for longer distances.
Connectors and pigtails
The antenna side usually has an N connector; the router side differs per brand (SMA, TS9, CRC9). A short pigtail makes the transition to your router. Not sure which one you need? Ask our helpdesk.
